Cherry is the ripe fruit of the modified cultivars of the Prunus avium Linnaeus tree from the Rosaceae family. Every year, 18 million tons of cherries are produced in the world, and Iran ranks third after Turkey and the United States. Cherry fruit cultivation thrives throughout Iran, where it has deep historical roots. Notably, Iran, along with Turkey and the United States, stands as one of the largest cherry producers globally. The cherry harvest season typically begins in late June and extends for 70 to 80 days. Iran boasts a rich diversity of cherry varieties. Here are some notable ones: - Mashhad Cherry (Tak Daneh): Named after the city of Mashhad, these cherries are cherished for their flavor. - White Cherry of Urmia: Known for its pale hue and sweet taste.  Urmia Red Cherries: Vibrant red and bursting with juiciness. - Qazvin Black Cherry: Dark and intense in flavor. - Plus, there are delightful red cherries from Neyshabur, Shahryar, Karaj, Lavasan, and more According to the surveys that have been conducted, the quality of Iran's exported cherries has the first place in the world and has many fans.

Storage Conditions: Cherry varieties that have dark color and firm flesh (usually ripen late) are suitable for storage and transportation in cold storage. Varieties that ripen early and have soft flesh, spoil soon and lose their quality. Cherries should be stored in a dry and cool place. The suitable storage temperature for storing cherries is 0 to 2 degrees Celsius. Relative humidity suitable for keeping cherries is between 90 and 95%. Cherries can be stored in air with high carbon dioxide (5-6%) and low oxygen (2-3%).
