Jujube with the scientific name Ziziphus Jujuba Mill belongs to the Rhamnaceae family. Jujube is cultivated commercially in Iran. Jujube fruit is rich in food and has high medicinal value and is often consumed in three forms: fresh, dried and processed. The history of jujube cultivation in Iran is more than 2000 years and many medicinal and traditional uses have been mentioned for it. Currently, there are about 4,000 hectares of juniper orchards in Iran, of which 3,400 hectares are in South Khorasan province.
