Bitter fennel, dry fruits Foeniculum vulgare P. Miller var. is vulgare Bitter fennel is a native of Mediterranean regions and grows in France, Spain, Portugal and North Africa. It has been found in Iran in the north (Gorgan, Haraz Valley) - Azerbaijan (Tabriz) - Kurdistan - Kerman and Khorasan. In terms of the amount and percentage of essential oil, sweet fennel is different from bitter fennel. Bitter fennel has a higher amount of fencone and a lower amount of antole than sweet fennel. Bitter fennel seed essential oil has medicinal and industrial properties. In addition, fennel has industrial uses. It is used in cosmetic and food industries such as soft drinks and also as spices and seasonings.
