Green Pistachio Kernels

Green pistachio Kernels are one of the most expensive pistachio nuts in Iran. This product is used in large volume for export to different countries, especially Europe and China. The color of this type of pistachio Kernels is very green and in some cases, the color of pistachios is dark green. The lower qualities of this pistachio Kernels are usually yellow. The most important factor affecting the price of this product is the green color of pistachio Kernels. In Iran, this product is obtained by harvesting pistachios before they are fully ripe, so that the green hue of the kernel has not turned yellowish. These pistachios are dried in the sun (heated air drying is not allowed) and shelled. The kernels are dipped in boiling water before the softened seed coat is mechanically removed. The peeled kernels are then dried and sorted according to the intensity of their green hue. Normally, whole GPPKs are sorted to seven grades of green colour.

Storage Conditions: Pistachio Kernels should be stored in a dry and cool place. The suitable storage temperature for storing Pistachio Kernels is between 0 and 10 degrees Celsius. If stored in proper conditions, it can be stored for 12 months.

Diminished Aflatoxin Risk Pistachios (DARP): 

DARPs are different from normal pistachios traded internationally in two respects:

  1. Drastically improved consistency of Aflatoxin test results.  In particular in commercial lots undergoing repeated sampling at different stages of clearance.
  2. Improved quality in terms of physical characteristic specified below:
    1. Uniformity of commercial lot in size
    2. The miniscule presence of foreign material
    3. The good appearance of pistachios being devoid of colored, deformed and unripe nuts

Aria Export can accept responsibility of passing defined sampling and testing control regimes in Iran or abroad.  This control regime can be based on inspections from Health Authorities in entry points or final buyer’s premises by an independent inspection team.  Eventually this control regime can be based on any independent inspection team at origin.
